Digital x-rays are faster than conventional x-rays, and they are comfortable for you. They also aid us to accurately diagnose your oral health needs. All with less radiation exposure! Digital panoramic x-rays are especially helpful when we screen for oral cancer, because they allow for Dr. Jones to see possible tumors and other problems associated with the jaws.
We employ digital imaging, as well, to show you how fabulous your new and improved smile could look, before treatment even begins. With no chemical processing needed, digital technology helps us do our part to keep the environment safe, too.
Intraoral Camera

Using this camera, we can give you a “tour” of your mouth on a TV screen (which is really cool). We also use the intraoral camera to guide you through your diagnosis and treatment options. This is helpful in keeping our patients at the center of their treatment plans. We want you to understand your dental treatment every step of the way, so you can make informed decisions for your oral health and smile.
Dental Magnification Loupes
Excellent dental care requires exacting precision and attention to detail. We must work in very small spaces and be accurate to a fraction of a millimeter. To help us, Dr. Jones and our hygienists use special prismatic magnification glasses, or “loupes.”
Laser Assisted Cavity Detection
Since identifying and filling cavities are two of the most important things we do for patients, we use Diagnodent® Technology. This low intensity laser detects areas of decay more precisely and sooner than less accurate methods of the past. In addition to preventing the spread of decay, Diagnodent’s ability to catch decay earlier means that the fillings required are often simpler. This allows us to use minimally invasive filling procedures and preserve more natural tooth. Additionally, using this comfortable detection method enables Dr. Jones to monitor areas of concern without repeated x-rays.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Composite dental fillings can be adhesively held in place or “bonded.” Because they can be bonded to teeth, composite fillings allow for more conservative preparations where less healthy tooth structure is removed. This often results in smaller filings than that of amalgam (silver fillings), and they are more natural looking. The tooth-colored material is cured with a special light and the surface is shaped and polished to match the tooth, rendering the final restoration virtually undetectable to the eye and very natural feeling in the mouth.
One-Visit Crowns, Inlays, Onlays, & Veneers with CEREC®
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This high-tech system enables us to design, make, and place restorations—including crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers—in only one visit. This means less time in the dental chair and more convenience for you, and it also means uncomfortable impression trays full of messy goo in your mouth are a thing of the past! Additionally, CEREC one-visit dentistry eliminates the need for plastic temporaries while laboratory work is completed (a process that can take weeks and a series of dental appointments).
How does it work? Using a special camera, we take several images of the tooth to be repaired. Working from those images, we use CEREC’s CAD/CAM software to digitally design a restoration that we are equipped to mill right in our office. The computer aided milling process is extremely precise, ensuring a natural feeling fit when we bond the newly made restoration to the tooth. After just 15 minutes or so of milling, your restoration will be ready to be polished and placed to look and feel as good as your natural tooth (if not better)!
